Artist Statement:

Dance is constantly evolving with the rapidly shifting culture; therefore I, as a dance artist am in constant flux with my own craft. I am always in search of new ideas and inspirations that can influence movement and allow for my artistic voice to be heard.

 

As a mover, experimenter, and artist, I deeply value the internal connection between the self and movement and its relationship to creative choice. I strongly believe that each person’s background highly influences his or her spiritual and internal connections to movement choices. Through a collaborative process my work investigates these personalized choices and draws upon the individual experience to capture a sense of realism that is relatable to any viewer in witness.

 

By exploring the authentic self, my work evokes a sense of awareness that requires an emotionally present dancer, and encourages personal growth from the inside out. My goal is to create an environment where all those involved have an outlet to move organically within their own bodies and contribute to the creative process. Through this internal movement exploration of the self, my process allows for personal expression and innovation within the ever-changing times in our culture.
